THE SEARCH IS ON FOR WELSH TALENT ACES
9 Ebr 2009
The search is on to find the cream of Welsh tennis talent – on and off the court.
Tennis Wales, the governing body for tennis in Wales, is organising the 2009 Tennis Wales Awards, to be presented at a special celebration evening at the Liberty Stadium, Swansea on July 18.
"This will be the third year for the awards, and again they offer a great opportunity to recognise and reward the real ‘stars’ of the sport – not just players, but officials, volunteers, coaches and clubs and centres too," said Tennis Wales chief executive Peter Hybart.
"It’s a chance for the thousands of people involved in tennis in Wales to think about who deserves these awards and make sure they get their nomination forms completed and back to us by the deadline of May 8th.
"Recognising the current economic climate, we hope to price the tickets at around half the cost of last year’s, which should make the awards presentation night much more accessible."
Awards, which recognise achievements in 2008, will be made in the following categories:
· Volunteer of the year;
· Tennis Club/Centre of the year;
· Leader/ Assistant coach of the year;
· Tennis Coach of the year;
· Team of the year;
· Player of the year (including disability players);
· Outstanding contribution to tennis in Wales;
Sponsorship packages for the awards dinner at the Liberty Stadium, on July 18 are now available from Tennis Wales and tickets will soon go on sale. The evening will include a hot buffet and presentation ceremony.
