BUSINESSES ARE BATTLING FOR WALES
6 Maw 2009
From builders to web providers, and photographers to hypnotherapists, businesses of every type are signing up to support Welsh baseball.
A wide range of companies have stepped ‘up to the pegs’ to sponsor the traditional summer sport for the coming season.
The Welsh Baseball Union’s (WBU) new associate sponsors are helping to maintain the sport’s youth development programme, administer its league and cup competitions, and finance the Wales international teams.
"Our sport has been an important part of community life for well over a hundred years," said WBU chairman Ken Gough. "It’s wonderful that the business community is supporting us, especially in these difficult times."
The associate sponsors on board so far are: Cardiff Computers; Life First Photography; RCT Hosting; Thornbury Building Services; Rhiwbina Hypnotherapy; and Walnic Concrete Flooring.
Rob Lancey of Thornbury Building Services, Cardiff said: "I went to the Ted Peterson Cup Final last year and was reminded just what an exciting and skilful game baseball is, so I’m delighted to be involved."
Andy Lee of Life First Photography, Rhiwbina, added: "Welsh baseball is South Wales’ own game, but it’s never had the commercial support it deserves – we’re pleased to help the sport as it strives to regain its former glories."
Associate sponsorship is still available for £100, while other options include sponsorship of leagues, cups and national teams.
Information, including a downloadable, brochure is available at www.welshbaseball.co.uk or from Andrew Weltch on 07890 288302.
The Welsh Baseball Union was founded in 1892 and runs a three-division men’s league and youth competitions, as well as the Wales national teams.
