VAULT CARDIFF
8 Ion 2009
At 7pm on Saturday 10th January the cream of British female pole vaulting will go head to head at the National Indoor Athletic Centre, Cardiff – in the first pole vault competition of the 2009 indoor season.
It will be a unique competition where the only event taking place in the arena will be the pole vault. The crowd will take their seats at the edge of the runway, next to the athletes and at the heart of the action. Each athlete will jump to their own choice of music and on an illuminated runway. There will also be a big screen playback of each jump.
The competition line up includes: 2008 Olympian, Kate Dennison (15th in Beijing); UWIC Alumni and Great Britain Internationals Louise Butterworth, Emma Lyons and Henrietta Paxton; plus a selection of the finest, up and coming junior vaulters in the UK. We will also be welcoming the French National U23 Champion and European Cup vaulter Alixe Auvray, to add a unique international flavour to the event.
The evening will begin with athlete introductions at 7pm and the action will begin immediately afterwards. There will be plenty of noise and entertainment throughout, until the competition climax at about 8.30pm. Crowd prizes and giveaways will take place during the evening including kit from the meeting sponsor adidas.
