NORTH WALES BOCCIA TOURNAMENT
27 Tach 2008
Llandudno Junction Leisure centre will play host to the North Wales Boccia tournament again this year.
Organised by Disability Sport Wales in conjunction with the North Wales Sports Association for People with a Learning Disability, the tournament takes place on Friday 5 December at Llandudno Junction Leisure Centre.
Boccia is a sport for disabled athletes, initially designed to be played by people with cerebral palsy and other disabilities which affect motor skills. The sport is also widely played by learning disabled athletes. The event will provide competitive opportunities for children and young people from schools across the North.
Donna Evans, Disability Sport Wales Development Officer for Wrexham said:
"Last year’s event was a huge success, involving children, young people and adults from the community."
"This year we have decided to host a separate event for school age athletes, to enable an increase in the number of fixtures and ensure that all players compete in appropriate classification bandings. The community event will take place in January."
